Natural Remedies for Gum Disease

Two of the most common symptoms of gum disease are bleeding gums and loose teeth. What causes them? Poor hygiene is usually to blame for their development. If you’ve noticed signs of gingivitis or other mouth diseases, you can improve the situation. In this article, we’ll show you some natural remedies for oral health.

Please bear in mind that our recommendations pertain only to mild cases. If you have reason to suspect that your problem is serious, don’t hesitate to book an appointment with your dentist. Mouth disease can become very painful and requires specialized, professional attention. If you’re in doubt, don’t mess about. It is the only way to resolve a persistent problem.
Salt water
One of the most effective natural remedies for gum disease (bleeding gums and loose teeth, for instance) is to gargle with warm salt water. Saline solutions are known to have antiseptic qualities. They also promote better blood circulation in your gums. This means that they are less likely to bleed or become inflamed. Simply add a pinch of salt to warm water and gargle with it twice a day.

Water and peroxide rinse
Here’s another quick and easy natural remedy for bleeding gums. You can also use it to reduce your chances of developing loose teeth. All you have to do is make a solution of hydrogen peroxide (between 1% and 3%) and water. Use this mixture to gargle for about 30 seconds. Make sure that you do not swallow the solution because the hydrogen peroxide can be harmful to your health. Ideally gargle with this solution approximately three times per week.

Massage and brush to prevent gum disease
Quick and effective as it is, here’s a remedy that surprisingly few people remember to do. What’s the big secret? Well, it’s simply to brush and massage your gums. This gentle, regular stimulation will prevent the gums becoming inflamed, which is a condition that leads to loose teeth. Massaged gums are also stronger and more resistant. Studies illustrate that this method is reliable – so much so that many tooth brushes come with gum massagers built in. They’re available to buy in most supermarkets, so there’s really no excuse not to look after your gums. You should get into the habit every day, each time you brush your teeth.

Baking soda
Baking soda should be in everyone’s oral health arsenal. It’s another extremely effective natural remedy to guard against inflamed and bleeding gums. Put a pinch of baking soda into a bit of water and use your fingers to apply it along your gum line. Brush your teeth as usual and gargle.
